DiagSet: a dataset for prostate cancer histopathological image classification.

Cancer diseases constitute one of the most significant societal challenges. In this paper, we introduce a novel histopathological dataset for prostate cancer detection. The proposed dataset, consisting of over 2.6 million tissue patches extracted from 430 fully annotated scans, 4675 scans with assigned binary diagnoses, and 46 scans with diagnoses independently provided by a group of histopathologists can be found at https://github.com/michalkoziarski/DiagSet . Furthermore, we propose a machine learning framework for detection of cancerous tissue regions and prediction of scan-level diagnosis, utilizing thresholding to abstain from the decision in uncertain cases. The proposed approach, composed of ensembles of deep neural networks operating on the histopathological scans at different scales, achieves 94.6% accuracy in patch-level recognition and is compared in a scan-level diagnosis with 9 human histopathologists showing high statistical agreement.

Sudden loss of vision due to breast cancer metastasis to the eyeball.

Intraocular choroidal metastasis is a very rare cause of blindness. Carcinoma of breast is the most common primary malignancy the accounts for choroidal metastasis in females. Other primary neoplasms which can uncommonly metastasize to the choroid are gastrointestinal tract, thyroid, pancreas, prostate and testis. Metastatic neoplasm to the eye outnumbers the primary tumors such as retinoblastoma and malignant melanoma. We present a case of sudden loss of vision due to breast cancer metastasis to the eyeball. The interval between the diagnosis of the primary tumor and the choroidal metastasis was 4 years.

Mammary invasive ductal adenocarcinoma and vulvar invasive keratinizing squamous cell carcinoma in a woman with disseminated discoid lupus erythematosus (DDLE) - a case review.

A case of metachronous presentation of two malignancies, invasive mammary ductal adenocarcinoma and later invasive keratinizing squamous cell vulvar carcinoma, complicating a 20 years long course of disseminated discoid lupus erythematosus is described. The authors underline a potential role of long-standing immunotherapy as a factor responsible for inducing secondary neoplasia.

Angiosarcoma arising within a Malignant Endovascular Papillary Angioendothelioma (Dabska tumor).

We report an angiosarcoma arising within a malignant endovascular papillary angioendothelioma (Dabska tumor) in soft tissue of the upper thigh/buttock of a 42-year-old woman. Although neoplastic progression within a vascular tumor of an existing low-grade lesion into DT has been described so far, we seem to be the first to report transformation of DT into an angiosarcoma.

[Hepatoblastoma in an adult]. / Hepatoblastoma u doroslego.

The authors present the case of hepatoblastoma in a young man. This type of cancer occurs rarely and it is usually diagnosed in children. The diagnosis was based on ultrasonography and computer tomography and first of all on the histopathological and immunohistochemical examination of liver biopsy. The type of cancer was epithelial and fetal. The treatment was based on chemotherapy and liver transplantation in June 2004 and then constant immunosuppression. The patient recovered with no new evidence of the disease.

Pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis--a report of two cases.
